LOCAL ELECTIONS

Know the Candidates

David C Hocking

Frelinghuysen Board of Education Candidate

Why are you running?

I have always felt that we receive so much from our school and community that we should give back in some manner and serving as a member of the BOE is one way of giving back.

We have always had a well-rounded BOE with a good cross section of the community. This allows the Board to represent the entire community.

What are the most important issues facing the school today?

Financial- with the loss of state aid and the ever rising cost of services and supplies maintaining a prudent and viable budget is an ongoing challenge.

Post Pandemic- providing the Frelinghuysen Township School Community with a safe and healthy learning environment which enables academic success.

Tell us about yourself and what experience do you have that would make you a good candidate for the School Board position?

What have you done to prepare to be a Board of Education member?

We have lived in Frelinghuysen Twp. since 1978 and have two children who matriculated through Frelinghuysen Township School as well as North Warren Regional School. I am a retired Project Manager with 47 years’ experience in the Heavy Highway Construction industry.

I have been a member of the Frelinghuysen BOE for 36 years and have held multiple positions and served on various committees throughout my tenure. I have participated in all required training as well as other information and training sessions provided by the New Jersey School Board Association.
