After winning both games against the Sparta Spartans in 2021, the Pope John Lions boys soccer team wanted to repeat their success against the Spartans. Unfortunately, the Lions lost the first matchup at Sparta High School in a devastating double overtime way by a score of 1-0. With that in mind, the Lions wanted revenge, and to impress their fans at home; however, the Lions would fall once again to the Spartans by a score of 2-1.
The Pope John Lions football team has had an amazing start to their 2022 season. With a 4-1 record, and being on a 3-game winning streak, the Lions looked to take down the Delbarton Green Wave last Saturday. The Green Wave, behind their enormous student section, defeated the Lions 37-19 in their Homecoming game.
