Ridge View Echo Advertising Guidelines

We at the Ridge View Echo adhere to the Federal Trade Commission’s, “Advertising and Marketing on the Internet: Rules of the Road” guidelines.

In general, advertising copy must tell the truth and not mislead the reader in any way. An advertisement can be misleading if the advertisement implies something that is not true or if relevant information is left out.

All advertising for political candidates must show who paid for the ad.

The Ridge View Echo has the right to reject any advertisement that we feel is deceptive or harmful in any way.

FILE SPECIFICATIONS:
• Files must be created in specified pixel sizes indicated on this page
• Max file size is 80k.
• JPG and PNG file formats accepted.
• Please specify the landing page URL at the time ad space is ordered.
• Animated GIFs are acceptable (contact us directly): animations must be no longer than 25 seconds; must meet the max file size of 150k; Animation length must be 15 seconds or shorter, and animated GIF ads must have a framerate of 5 frames per second or slower 

Tips for Creating Your Ads

USE PIXELS

Always create your ad in pixels (in specified banner ad sizes)

LESS IS MORE

Only use one or two fonts (avoid italics, very thin fonts, or script if possible)

FONT SIZES

Don't use fonts below 10pt (unless for something like copyright) and use larger sizes for the important information

BE CONCISE

Try to limit your tagline to two or three bold, large lines of text

STAY ON BRAND

Use color wisely and be consistent with your brand. Use your logo or recognizable icon/logomark if your logo doesn't size down well or if brand name is long.

CREATE THE TONE

Be BOLD and use a sense of urgency to your advantage - remember, users will look at your ad for mere seconds

SIMPLE WORKS

Try to limit to one powerful photo or illustration/graphic that highlights your ad and doesn't compete with the message.

CALL TO ACTION

Include a call to action: "GET 50% OFF NOW". "FREE DOWNLOAD" "SEE NOW". "FIND OUT MORE". (avoid using "click here")

VALUE PROPOSITION

Offer a clear, simple, enticing value proposition/benefit for your tagline such as: "All orders will get free shipping" "Start building your ____ today" "Subscribe to get a free sample"
