Most of the buzz at June’s Warren County Library Commission Meeting surrounded changes to the Circulation policies. The subcomittee is still currently working on the policies, but they hope to have a draft for the commission by September.
In a similar vein, the library programs are being revisited and updated. The programs policy was created in 2022 but never voted into effect, and a draft will be in the works over the summer.
Library Directors Report
The Summer at the Library events have been well attended, and feedback has been very positive. Summer reading for all ages has seen an uptick. There is a new library associate coming from the Sussex County Library System who will be working on the maker space and digital lab at The Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch, which has been highly anticipated.
In other news, Mary Ellen Krivanek is retiring from the library system after 18 years of service. Her programs have been beloved by many, and she will be missed by staff and patrons.
Public Comment
There is still significant interest from the public regarding the programs policy. There was even a suggestion that the board publish a copy of the programs policy from 2022 for the public so they have an idea of what is being edited.
The board responded, and once the draft is ready it will hopefully be available to the public starting on the Friday before the meeting. This was done with the bylaws, and it went a long way to ensuring that the public remains adequately informed.
Commissioner’s Comments
In August, the library will partner with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to hold mobile events at the library where you can make an appointment or walk in to get your REAL ID and other documentation done without having to go to the DMV. More information about the mobile NJMVC events can be found on the library’s website.
The Warren County Library Commissioners will be back at the next regular meeting on September 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Richard D. Gardner Branch.
