Betty Jane Lindsay

Betty Jane Lindsay, 95, of Hardwick, passed away on May 24, 2024 in Fredon after a short illness.

She was born in Newark on March 25, 1929 to William Elmer and Marie (Steigman) Zellers. She grew up in Union and graduated from Union High School in 1947. She was married in 1987 to her loving husband James “Jim” Lindsay and moved to Essex Fells that same year. In 1994, they moved to Hardwick. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 75 years. She had been an advisor to the Warren County Department on Aging and president of the Hardwick Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, watercolor and oil painting.

She is survived by her nephews Gary G. (Rita) and Glenn (Cheryl) Fairbanks of Maryland and Pennsylvania respectively and a step grandson, Ian Lindsay, of Houston, Texas.

She was predeceased by her husband James in 2006 and a stepson, Gordon Lindsay, in 2007.
