Gallery 23 Artists of the Month for April – Celebrating Pine Needle Basketry and Ceramic Artistry

Celebrating Gallery 23 Artists of the Month for April – Theresa Kuritz and Susan Bogen

PRESS RELEASE: BLAIRSTOWN, N.J. – Theresa mastered the Seminole Indian ancient craft of pine needle basketry while “snow birding” in Florida. Long leaf needles from the southern states are used to create these unique vessels. Today it’s not uncommon to see contemporary pine needle baskets in fine galleries alongside baskets made by the artists, mother and grandmothers.

Susan is a ceramic artist working in porcelain and stoneware in Montvale. All of her work is hand thrown and decorated functional ware. She fires to cone 10 in her gas kiln and in friends’ wood-fired kilns. Susan has also taught ceramics at The Art School at Old Church since 2001 and at Sugar Maples in the Catskills over the years. Her work is available at numerous galleries and craft shops and on occasion at the Ramsey Farmers’ Market and other craft shows.

Each artist is offering 10% off one item during the month of April.

Please join our artists for a reception. Light refreshments will be served.
