Veronica Clare Zwetkof

Veronica Clare Zwetkof, 99, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest child, born on November 14, 1924, in Co Louth, Ireland, to the late Patrick and Rose (Finnegan) Clarke.

She led a remarkable life defined by her warmth, kindness and unwavering strength. She dedicated herself to her family, friends and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Veronica pursued higher education and became a registered nurse. She practiced mainly as a midwife. Her passion for healthcare and dedication to helping others were evident throughout her career, where she provided compassionate care to countless patients, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Veronica was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, cherished by all who knew her.

Veronica had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. She loved spending time on Facebook, where she would eagerly comment on everyone’s posts, spreading positivity and kindness. Additionally, she was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hiking up until last year. Her adventurous spirit and love for nature brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Veronica also had a sweet tooth and delighted in indulging in her favorite treats, especially ice cream and cookies.

Veronica will be deeply missed by her loving family, including her children, Peter Zwetkof and Rosemary Zwetkof-Ryan (Michael), and her grandchildren, Devon, Svetlana, Ronan and Kiernan. She will also be missed by a wide circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1986. She was also predeceased by her siblings Bernard, infant Mary, Tom, Molly, Joe, Charlie, Rosetta, Teresa and Seamus.

Veronica has been entrusted to the care of Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown.
