Louise Ahlers

Louise Ahlers, a cherished wife, mother and loyal friend, passed away on March 13, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on August 7, 1948, in Newark to Charles and Jean (Seniuk) Cyga.

She grew up in Watchung where she graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1966. Upon marriage, she and Fred stayed in Watchung before moving to Hardwick where they have lived ever since.

She taught alongside Elaine Kelley at Blair Nursery School, where she touched the lives of many young learners, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Among her many talents, Louise’s signature dish was her mouthwatering meatballs and sauce. With each savory bite, she shared a piece of her culinary passion and warmth, bringing people together around the table to enjoy delicious food and heartfelt conversation. She had a particular fondness for seafood, especially lobster, crab and steamers. Her love for seafood was a reflection of her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and her ability to find happiness in the moments shared with others.

She approached life with a sense of humor, delighting in April Fools’ Day pranks that brought laughter and joy to her friends and family. Louise had a generous spirit, both in giving and receiving gifts. She found joy in selecting thoughtful presents for her loved ones and treasured the expressions of gratitude they elicited. Her kindness and thoughtfulness enriched the lives of all who crossed her path.

Just as Louise’s favorite forget-me-not flowers continue to bloom, her playful antics, generous spirit and culinary creations will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Louise will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and infectious laughter. Her presence brought light into the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 54 years, Fred; her children, Amie Osborn (Bob) and Freddy Ahlers (Lisa); grandchildren Ben, Hollie, Charlotte and Abby; and her sister Mary Jane (Jim). She is also survived by extended family, and countless friends who will carry her legacy forward with love and admiration.

There will be a visitation on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4-7PM at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown.
