REVIVE YOUR STYLE: Fall in Love With Your Wardrobe!

With the holiday of love quickly approaching, it’s easy to go out and buy a new shirt, shoes and/or dress for the special occasion(s) because we want to look special for our spouse, fiancé, significant other or if you are like my family, we celebrate one another. Either way you may notice that now you are stuck with an item that you may never wear again because of color or style.

During this time, we are fixated on the one(s) we love, admire sometimes secretly and the ones we made vows to cherish forever, but the thing we neglect is our closet. This may sound silly, and you may be wondering, “What my closet has to do with Valentine’s Day?” Nothing and everything at the same time.

If you’ve lost the love of going to your closet and getting dressed because you’re tired of the same old thing, let’s spice it up! Here are four simple, but efficient things you can do to fall in love with your wardrobe:

  • Add/mix colors. If you are a neutral loving person, try adding a pop of color to your outfit. For example, for that little black dress of yours, try adding a metallic moto jacket for added character, or a red blazer for a pulled together look. Men: that Navy blue suit you love, try adding a colorful/printed tie for a small pop of color.
  • Repurpose. Think blending seasons, i.e. fall/winter. This is where layering can come into play. Here is where you get to be creative. You know that fall maxi dress you couldn’t get enough of? How about pairing it with a chunky or oversized sweater and a belt to balance out the body. Men: You can always throw a cable knit sweater over your favorite polo and always look pulled together.
  • Accessorize. You will be surprised how changing the accessories you wear with certain outfit(s) can and will breathe new life into them. Accessories can change the whole aesthetic of an ensemble.
  • This is top secret….are you ready? Tailoring. Tailoring can go hand-in-hand with repurposing an item or items. Tailoring your item will look brand new custom just for you, and who doesn’t want celebrity treatment on a dime? Trust me, you will thank me later.
