Fernando Escobar

Fernando Escobar, 93, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 3, 2024.

Born in Ancerma, Colombia, on November 22, 1930 to the late Luis Carlos and Ester Julia (Ramirez) Escobar. Fernando lived in Colombia until 1972, when he decided to come to America. He originally settled in New York City before moving to Carteret 35 years ago. He has lived in Plainfield for the last five years.

Fernando was a very social person. He enjoyed meaningful conversations with his family and friends. He was always fixing things for himself and others, cars, homes or anything else he could get his hands on. If you gave Fernando something, he could fix it. He also enjoyed playing chess. His two passions in life were his family and music, he loved tango music.

He is predeceased by his wife Rocio Escobar in 1989. He is survived by his daughters Alicia Escobar of Carteret; Liliana Escobar of Tampa, Florida; and Cecilia Escobar of Plainfield; a granddaughter Natalia Jimenez; and two grandsons Michael Correa and Andres Jimenez.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia.
