Diane Geitzenauer

Diane Geitzenauer, 79, of Columbia, passed away in Whitehall, Pennsylvania on October 29th, 2023. She was born in New York City on October 22nd, 1944, to Frank and Mary(Farruggio) Polacik.

Right out of high school, she went to work for AT&T and they ultimately put her through college. She graduated from Centenary College in Hackettstown with a degree in education psycology.

Diane worked her way up the corporate ladder to become a supervisor. After retiring from AT&T, she became a teacher and taught in the Long Valley school system, then became a teacher and teacher’s aide at Knowlton Township Elementary School where she worked until becoming ill.

Diane bred and showed rabbits where she met her husband Bill. She was an instructor for the Morris County 4-H rabbit and small animals club. Diane also had her pilot’s license and loved to fly. Diane bred, raised and showed samoyeds and had her own sledding team. Through her work and hobbies, Diane made many lasting friendships all over the world.

Diane is survived by her brother Robert Polacik; his domestic partner Danielle Vasi; her nieces Melanie (Polacik) Murphy; and Tara (Polacik) Sorensen; and five grandnieces and grandnephews. Diane was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2011.

A period of visitation will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown. A memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Jude RC Church Blairstown.
