Constance Laverty

Constance Laverty, age 97, leaves behind a legacy of life lessons, wisdom and influence in the lives of her family as she entered Heaven shortly before midnight on June 14th, 2023.

Born in Dover on November 11th, 1925, Connie was raised in Dover and attended Dover High School. Due to WWII, she graduated after concluding her junior year and began secretarial work in Newark at Prudential. Finding success in the secretarial field, she worked for other companies before landing at Picatinny Arsenal until her retirement. Living in Morris, Sussex and Ocean counties, Connie took pride in purchasing and redecorating homes. Most recently, she lived at The Chelsea and Bristol Glen. Connie found solace by the ocean, most notably spending time at her home in Jensen Beach Florida or the family beach house in Ocean City, Maryland. She could be found walking the beach for seashells, seeing lighthouses or visiting the boardwalk. Her passion for the beach and ocean is shared by her children, who hold special memories of time there with her.

Although deeply saddened by her passing, her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited in Heaven with her family, parents William and Mabel (Moore) Harring; husband Myles Laverty; brother Bill Harring; sister Mildred Smith; and great grandson, Kyle McCann. Connie’s memory will live on through her cherished children, being remembered for her warm smile and natural ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She raised a very close family, and they are whom she held closest to her heart. The time spent with them, even in her final days, is what she cherished above all. Not a day went by where Connie didn’t talk about how much her family meant to her. They were arguably the most important achievement in her life.

Connie’s legacy will live on through her loving children, Kim (Jerry) Newchok; Kevin (JoAnn) Gould; “daughter” Amy (Steven) McCann; and William Gould; her devoted grandchildren, Bill (Jennifer) Gould; Paul (Amanda) Newchok; Jason (Danielle) Gould; Keri Newchok; Sasha Gould; and Ryan Newchok; her cherished great grandchildren Sean and Chris McCann; Billy Gould; Chloe Page; Norah and Greta Newchok; Emilia and Nicholas Gould; and three nieces.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Connie’s memorial service at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown, on Wednesday, June 28th from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider a donation to The Kyle McCann Spirit Scholarship Fund, HighPoint Regional High School, c/o Jon Tallamy, 299 Pidgeon Hill Road, Sussex, NJ 07461 or Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center, Attn: Lori Opitz, 5 Plains Road, Augusta, NJ 07822. Connie’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Bristol Glen and Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice for providing exceptional care. Their kindness will not be forgotten.

Loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Connie always put others before herself. She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her family will always be thankful for the gift that was her amazing life.
