Veteran’s Day at the Fair is on Sunday, July 30, with free admission for all veterans with proper ID. There will be a Red Cross white panel truck in the main parking lot off of CR 519 between the ticket booths from noon to 5 p.m.
The first 100 supporters bringing a box of 10 items or more from the below food list will receive a Post 528 cloth shopping tote bag. Food may be dropped off to the Red Cross truck even if not entering the fair or cash donation will be accepted. Buckets will be at the entrance ticket booths and at all Post 528 events at the fair.
Let’s fill the truck with food and show our troops that Warren County cares.
The American Legion Department of New Jersey Chaplain Mike Schaffer stated that military families stationed at Joint Bases McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) and NWS Earle in Sandy Hook need help in providing for their families. With added restrictions on military families (moving from state to state and not being able to work in their trade fields due to state restrictions/non acceptance of their credentials in their licensing and certificates they earned in other states) has reduced some families to one pay check per month.
There is legislation being discussed to change these hardships on their families as well as increasing their base pay. This hardship is not only being experienced in New Jersey but all over bases in the United States.
