Gerald (Jerry) Eugene Walker, a devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on April 23, 2023 at the age of 81, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon, NJ. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.

Jerry was born in East Stroudsburg, PA to the late Eugene and Doris Walker. He met Carol Ann Shaffer, the love of his life, during high school and they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.

After attending East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Montclair State College for various degrees in Chemistry and Education, he made the education of children the center of his career. After teaching in Bridgwater, NJ, he moved to Livingston High School in NJ, were he would spend the next 34 years. As an Advanced Placement Chemistry teacher he was honored in 1985 as a finalist for the Teacher in Space Project and in 1987 as NJ State Teacher of the Year. During his tenure as Principal, Livingston was recognized under the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.

Jerry was also active in his local community serving as a High School Band Parent, Little League Coach, Elder/Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Blairstown and member of the Masonic Lodge. He could also be seen supporting his sons and grandchildren at various sporting, musical and theatrical events. During the summers, he worked as a skilled contractor. After retirement in 2003, Jerry and Carol wintered in Lakeland, Florida and traveled the world, visiting over 50 countries in the past 20 years. In his free time, he channeled his artistic flair into duck decoys and painting.

Jerry is survived by his wife Carol Walker; brother Rodney Walker and his wife Lila; son Randall Walker and his wife Maggie; son David Walker and his husband Vic Tolentino; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Walker.
