James “Jim” Lester Cole

James “Jim” Lester Cole, 71, of Hardwick, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 31, 2023.

Born to the late Lester and Sydell (McKinnon) Cole on December 6, 1951 in Newton, Jim grew up in Sussex County and moved to Hardwick more than 30 years ago. He went to Lincoln Tech where he studied to be an HVAC technician.

Jim was a true entrepreneur, starting and owning two separate businesses; an autobody shop in Belvidere, and an HVAC company called Cole AC & Heating. Over his career, he had worked for several autobody shops, and he lastly worked for Fuel Rite in Blairstown. He was known to be “Mr. Fix-It.” He could repair anything, HVACs, small or large engines.

In his spare time, Jim could be found hunting or fishing, fixing and drag racing muscle cars or watching the History Channel. He was a member of the NRA. His biggest passion in life was his children and grandchildren whom he adored.

Jim is survived by his partner and best friend of 33 years, Denise Hendershot; his daughters, Laurie Cole; Willow Kessler; Meadow Cole and her husband Matthew Lobisch; his son Tyler Cole; and his grandchildren, Everlin, Rowan, Benjin Lobisch; Kyle and Brandon Cole; and his nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Mickey Cole.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, April 5, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown with a service to follow at 6 p.m. Services are entrusted to Newbaker Funeral Home.
