James Craig Reynolds

James Craig Reynolds, 85 years of age, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2023 in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 9, 1937 in Morristown to Hugh and Elinor (Young) Reynolds.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1968 as a submariner serving on the USS Balao, the USS Threadfin, the USS John T. Marshall, the USS Picuda and the USS Robert E. Lee. Jim resigned his commission in 1968. Jim possessed a strong Catholic faith and became a director of religious education for the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan from 1969-1976 and was employed at St. Clements RC Church, St. David’s RC Church and Sacred Heart RC Church. He then drove a tractor trailer for Roadway so he could move his family back to their roots in New Jersey. Later Jim worked for Prudential Insurance, H&R Block, AT&T Bell Laboratories and drove for Stocker Bus Company. Jim was a huge sports enthusiast and attended many football, baseball and lacrosse games. Golfing was his particular favorite though and his golfing buddies called him “the Hammer.”

Jim, also known as Seamus, is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Ellen Nienstedt-Reynolds, and their 6 children: James R.; Maureen Konecnik; Michael A.; Sean P.; Peter F.; and Elinor Jean Richard; his brother, Richard Reynolds; and two nephews. He was predeceased by their daughter, Therese (Tracy), who passed in 1973. Jim was blessed with 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending time with later in life.
