Michael S. Phalon, 59, passed away November 9, 2022. He was the brother of Joe Phalon of Blairstown. Michael was born to Joseph and Marsha Phalon and grew up in Pompton Plains. He worked for NJ Transit for many years where he was active with the Railmen for Children charity playing Santa Claus on the yearly Christmas train. Michael was an avid golfer with a big personality and a bigger heart. He was generous to others and never met a stranger. His outrageous sense of humor would have you scratching your head or keep you laughing for days. He will be truly missed for the smiles, kindness and joy he brought to the world. Michael is survived by his wife Mary; canines Fitzroy, Pink and Mavis; his father Joseph Phalon; his brother Joe Phalon and wife Rosemary; his brother Tim Phalon; his sister Tracey Phalon and her partner Fanny. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends he loved very much. And The World’s Most Dangerous Cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Marsha. Visitation will be held Wednesday November 16, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, New Jersey 07444 A memorial service and inurnment will be held in Michael’s honor at 10 a.m. Thursday November 17 at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the ASPCA or Railmen for Children.
