One of the region’s longest running fundraiser events, the Knowlton Lions Club’s Summer Raffle with thousands of dollars in door prizes, including two 2022 Ford Maverick 4×4 trucks, is back in action this year, with some changes to the drawing day.
The Knowlton Lions Club has been providing much needed funds to numerous non-profits in the area for years and has been long been recognized as one of the area’s most generous giving organizations.
The 43rd Annual Summer Raffle will be held on Saturday, August 27, at the same field as always (Gary Gray Field, Route 46, Delaware, NJ). The event includes drawings, food and at the end, a fireworks display. Ticket orders are filled on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may be ordered by phone calling 908-798-7386 with a credit card.
There will be a limit of 10 individual tents this year. Tent leaders must call me ASAP to reserve their tickets. If you are going to be in a tent (25 ticket orders equals a tent) you must send your money to the leader who will send me all the orders at one time.
In addition to the two trucks, both valued at over $25,000 each, some of the other high ticket items include a $2500 travel voucher from AAA, a Honda 2000 Watt generator, a Horns Polaris Ranger, a Horns Polaris Sportsman Plow, and a huge number of gift cards from restaurants and area businesses. In all, there are over $84,000 in prizes that will be raffled.
Due to concerns over new insurance regulations, officials noted, “We regret that due to Covid and liability issues we have had to revamp the event. There will be NO ALCOHOL allowed at this event. No beer truck, no bringing alcohol in and no tailgating. Also, no coolers will be allowed.”
There will be plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages available on the field beginning at 3:30 (first drawing takes place at around 4:30). The menu includes sausage and peppers, Sloppy Joe, hot dogs, numerous side dishes and desserts.
The cost of the “complete ticket” is $130 apiece which admits two people entrance to the event. This includes the truck/merchandise raffle, an Early Bird Raffle, and all food and services. No Minors (Under 18) or pets are allowed. Each person must wear the wristband provided to access food and beverages. Wristbands will be given out at the entrance gate. Do not lose the ticket as it will be barcoded and scanned at entrance. There will be two admission rip off parts of the ticket that must be turned in to receive the wristbands-one per person.
